Philippe Koudjina, born in 1940 in Togo to parents from Benin, worked as a photo reporter in the sixties before opening a studio in 1972 where he focused on black and white photography. The triumph of colour photography put an end to his work. Today Koudjina lives in extremely humble circumstances in Niamey, Mali.
